Atty. Marjorie O. Ramos-Samaniego is a member of the Board of Governors of the Philippine Board of Investments (BOI), the Philippines’ primary industry development and investments promotion agency. Prior to her appointment, she served the BOI as the Director of the Legal and Compliance Service and then as Officer-in-Charge Executive Director of the Management Services Group.
She has been the Philippine Investment Lead Negotiator for Investment Agreements/Chapter, specifically on the ASEAN-Australia New Zealand Free Trade Agreement, ASEAN-China Investment Agreement, ASEAN-India
Investment Agreement, ASEAN-Hongkong Investment Agreement, ASEAN-Japan Investment Agreement and the ongoing Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, PH-EFTA and PH-Taiwan Investment
Chapters/Agreementa. She authored the article entitled “Regional Investment Treaties: How Fair Are They?” featured in the book ASEAN Economic Integration: Solutions to Legal and Economic Challenges for the Philippines
published by the Institute of International Legal Studies of the UP Law Center. She obtained her law degree from the University of the East and was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 2000. She
has also completed her Special Studies in Leadership Development Program at the University of Asia and Pacific, Southeast Asia Business Studies.
A recognized technocrat, she was the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry’s Executive of the Year for 2015, and a recognition awardee of both the Philippine Regulation Commission and the Board of Chemical Engineering in the same year for her enduring commitment to exemplary public service.
