Mr Nelson Samuel joined the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) in 1992 with a background in Analytics Economics.
During his tenure at MIDA, he had served at various capacities starting from evaluation function at Industries division specifically at Building Materials, Textiles and Miscellaneous Industries. This was followed by promotion and marketing function attached to the Industrial Promotion Division and covering North America Desk.
Later was posted as Deputy Director in MIDA Tokyo from December 2002 until January 2007. He had also served as Deputy Director, Strategic Planning Division MIDA covering industrial policies and was appointed as the Director of MIDA Seoul in Rep. of Korea from 2012 until 2016 which also covered the investment functions of the Malaysian embassy in Seoul, Korea Republic. .
Since 2016, Mr Nelson Samuel is attached as the Director of the Foreign Investment Promotion Division, MIDA looking at global marketing functions and attracting foreign investments (FDI) into Malaysia.
