Ms. Lori HUNG
Corporate Strategy Development, Manager, Catcher Technology
Ms. Lori Hung is responsible for developing Catcher Technology’s Medtech manufacturing businesses through early-stage business development, marketing, M&A, and other investment activities.
Catcher Technology is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of metal chassis, supplying global brands. Catcher is headquartered in Taiwan with manufacturing facilities in Taiwan and China. It is listed on the Taiwanese stock exchange.
Starting her career at Catcher Technology as a product manager for the smartphone business, Lori has experienced firsthand the massive expansion of manufacturing at scale driven by the boom in the smartphone sector. She worked on implementing a smart process control system – an electronic traceability system that tracks each product from raw material through each machining, surface finish, and assembly processes all the way to the Finished Good using unique QR code system. After completing her MBA and joining Boston Consulting Group where she focused on the healthcare sector, Lori returned to Catcher Technology spearheading Catcher’s foray into Medtech manufacturing.
Having lived in more than 5 cities across Taiwan, China, and US, Lori is now based in Singapore. She holds a MS degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Material Science and an MBA degree from UC Berkeley Haas.
Presentation Title
Smart manufacturing at scale: How smart manufacturing can be achieved by combining traceability, process control, and quality engineering in one system.
Abstract
In the medical industry, implementing traceability systems is crucial for ensuring that manufacturers can recall products precisely when it, unfortunately, fails in the field. Because failures in medical products are so costly, regulators require manufacturers to maintain a set of documentation that records the conditions and lot information of how each product was manufactured. In addition to recalls, a good traceability system also serves as a post-mortem tool. In the semiconductor industry and consumer electronic manufacturing, the same concept applies.
In this sharing, we will discuss how we do traceability at Catcher, and how, if we go beyond merely recording data, but utilize the recorded data for process control and failure analysis, we can unleash the power of smart manufacturing.
