Presentation Title

Holistic Strategy Towards Net Zero Emissions

Presentation Abstract

While many companies have started their journey towards achieving net-zero emissions, no single business can reach net zero alone. Collaboration across, and between value chains, as well as public-private sector partnership is fundamental to aligning strategies and industrial policies.

The industry has a significant role to play in achieving global carbon reduction targets, as it encompasses all manufacturing and value chains, and represents nearly 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions.

Western Digital has adopted three key imperatives as part of a long-term roadmap in attempting to achieve net zero for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions:

1) A “can do” mindset, with a holistic framework for a multi-year journey.

2) Innovative 4IR technology adoption to accelerate decarbonization, by improving efficiencies within factory operations and across the value chains.

3) Systemic collaboration across the end-to-end value chains, aiming at mutual economic and environmental benefits, and risk mitigation.

In this presentation, we discuss a net zero framework and explore examples of innovative 4IR technology adoption that have enabled Western Digital to reduce emissions within its factories and in our value chains.
