Job Position Summary:
This position will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regional import and export trade laws and regulations. This position will develop, lead, implement and maintain initiatives relating to the execution of global trade compliance initiatives necessary to maintain acceptable levels of compliance, risk avoidance, cost management, and instill mastery throughout the business in region.

Services:
• Identifies, initiates, and leads projects related to the international movement of goods and technology control.
• Leads regional global trade compliance efforts across the organization; both internally and externally.
• Engages with business leaders on strategies and initiatives that affect trade compliance and where trade matters may affect strategy.
• Coordinates regional global trade compliance initiatives with Watlow Global Trade Compliance
initiatives, strategic objectives, and business needs.
• Applies critical thinking and analytical rigor to information received.
• Prepares written communications for Director of Global Trade Compliance, including status reporting and on strictly confidential matters.
• Creates and delivers training across regional organizations related to global trade compliance
regulations and laws.
• Implements changes and adjustments to global trade compliance related practices necessary to meet regional regulatory compliance requirements aligned to Watlow Global Trade Compliance program requirements and strategy.
Delivery:
• Develops and maintains written compliance processes specific to region aligned to Watlow Global
Trade Compliance program requirements and initiatives.
• Works proactively and provides guidance to internal departments to ensure regional international
business activities are conducted in compliance with applicable government regulations as well as the Watlow Global Trade Compliance program requirements and global initiatives.
• Assures all permits, certifications and/or licenses necessary for importing or exporting are secured and up to date.
• Manages regional broker, forwarder, consultant and attorney relationships with support and guidance from Watlow Global Trade Compliance strategy, global initiatives, and business needs..
• Establishes and manages customs and applicable other government agency procedures for the inbound and outbound cross-border movements of materials, equipment, finished goods, returns and other business-related goods.
• Establishes and manages applicable compliance and government agency approvals procedures for the transfer and “deemed export” of controlled “technology”.
• Develops best practices for importing, exporting goods, “technology” and software to and from the
specified region in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Business Partner:
• Collaborates with consultants, attorneys, industry partners, trade associations, and government
agencies.
• Works with cross-functional internal stakeholders to adopt, develop, and oversee regional processes, policies, procedures, work instructions and systems for import and export related activities.
• Collaborates with regional and global Supply Chain, Logistics, Shipping, Engineering, Information
Technology, Sales, and other teams as necessary to establish necessary controls and tools to mitigate risk and support Watlow’s global growth initiatives.
• Works closely with Watlow Global Trade Compliance to ensure regional compliance program is being managed in line with global strategy, initiatives and provides consistent and standardized support to business.
Center of Expertise (COE)
• Regional and global knowledge of all applicable systems, trade practices and requirements for
applicable government import and export authorizations, clearance, reporting, audits, disclosures,
compliance improvement plans and the like.
• Regional and global knowledge of all applicable systems, country-specific requirements for
government reporting; including, invoicing, customs and other government agency information, tax
implications (Excise, VAT, GST, etc.) inventory and other as required.
• Project Management Experience. Advanced training preferred.
• Knowledge of:
• Laws and Regulations of the region and other applicable territories pertaining to the import
and export of goods, software, “technology” and services.
• Understanding of global treaties and organizations; including, but not limited to General
Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), World Trade Organization (WTO), World Customs
Organization (WCO), World Trade Organization (WTO), International Convention of the Sale
of Goods (CISG), Wassenaar Arrangement, Australia Group, Nuclear Suppliers Group,
United Nations (UN), etc.
• International standards and region-specific determinations for Country of Origin (non-preferential),
Customs Valuation, Related Party Transactions, Assists, Preferential Trade Programs, FTZs,
Technical Barriers to Trade, etc.
• Incoterms 2020.
• Global Trade Compliance Implications on: Engineering & Information Technology, Supply Chain,
Purchasing, Logistics, Sales, Operations, and International Business Strategy.
Education, Experience and Certification Requirements:
• Bachelors’ degree and 5-7 years of experience.
• Regional or global trade compliance and/or facilitation certifications, licenses, and similar credentials and/or advanced training preferred.
• Project management experience.
• Supervisory training and experience.
Additional Information Regarding Position:
• Ability to fluently speak and write in English as well as any necessary/applicable languages by
countries in scope for region.
• Travel required 10-25%
