Presentation Title:
Environmental Sustainability: Transforming the bane of semiconductor industry into a boon that enriches life for all
The global semiconductor industry sales are projected to surpass $1 trillion by 2030, and while this expansive projection is welcomed by global semiconductor players, the question that begs is the environmental sustainability front of these manufacturing facilities. Industry critics actively cite the adverse impact caused by manufacturing facilities to the environment and planet. This valid cause for concern informs the decisions made by semiconductor companies to reduce their carbon footprint and preserve the environment for future generations.
As a leading semiconductor company, Micron established a vision to enable the co-existence of environmental responsibility and business prosperity and emerge as a Global Semiconductor Leader in 2E+2W, which include energy avoidance, emission reduction, water RR%: Reuse and Recycle, waste RRR%: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. These initiatives reinforce Micron’s commitment to deliver an unwavering commitment to our people, communities and planet.
Micron’s achievement aligns with and builds on Micron’s sustainability efforts. The company has committed to spending $1 billion by 2028 to meet its environmental targets: reduce greenhouse gas emission intensity by 75% between 2018 and 2030, achieve 75% water conservation and 95% waste diversion globally in 2030, and source 100% renewable energy across its U.S. manufacturing operations by the end of 2025.
