Presentation Title
Achieving circularity in Semicon: how Sustainable Innovations can make a difference in Semicon and Society.
Presentation Abstract
The demand for semicon is to stay, as the world moves into a hybrid mode. As semicon industry drives the changes in the world, it is imperative not to overlook the environmental impact of the industry. Moving from industry 4.0 to industry 5.0, having sustainability in the heart of our endeavours, we have to work towards achieving a circularity in semicon. In this light, this talk will focus on why circularity matters in semicon industry by shedding some light on recycle and reuse case studies in UCT. Let-Lab, as the innovation arm of UCT, plays a significant role in bringing innovations from outside UCT, to augment the circularity endeavours of UCT. In that regard, the talk will also discuss innovations ( startups) that help realise this. Overall, the aim of this talk is to highlight how semicon giants can work inwards and hand-in-hand with open innovations to achieve circularity.
