PMUT - AlScN: The Next Generation of Health Monitoring - Smaller, Safer, for Wearables and Medical Devices
Abstract
Emerging wearable health monitors hold immense potential for continuous, personalized healthcare management. However, current devices often face limitations in size, comfort, and long-term wearability. The presentation explores the exciting potential of piezoelectric microultrasonic transducers (PMUT) fabricated from Aluminum Scandium Nitride (AlScN) to address these challenges and usher in a new era of wearable health monitoring.
PMUTs leverage the piezoelectric effect to convert mechanical stress into electrical signals, enabling them to detect vital physiological signals like heart rate, respiration, and blood pressure. Their miniature size facilitates integration into comfortable and unobtrusive wearables, enhancing user compliance. Moreover, AlScN's biocompatible nature ensures safe long-term wear.
The presentation presents the potential of PMUT (AlScN) technology in wearable healthcare applications. By miniaturizing and improving wearability, PMUT-based wearables can empower individuals to proactively manage their health and facilitate timely intervention by healthcare providers.
