Presentation Title
Virtual Commissioning to Boost Predictability, Cost Efficiency & Sustainability

Abstract
The semiconductor industry’s relentless growth, fuelled by global digitalisation especially in Artificial Intelligence (AI), demands over 100 larger and more complex fabs to be built by 2030. Designing and constructing these energy-intensive facilities at such a rapid pace pose significant challenges for the environmental and resources. Strategic and forward-thinking planning is critical to meet this unprecedented demand while minimising ecological impact.

To remain competitive, chipmakers seek sustainable initiatives that also provide cost and schedule benefits. This presentation introduces Virtual Commissioning, one of the latest innovations to bring forth these values to fab owners. It is industry’s first digital fab engineering tool that not only allows precise forecasting of resource usage and its corresponding carbon emissions, but also elevates fab design optimisation through its dynamic simulations. This enhances predictability for fab owners to take proactive measures well in advance before construction or implementation, improving the overall decision-making and planning.
