Mr. Michel GUNAWAN
President and CEO East Asia, ASEAN and Oceania, Bosch Group
Michel Gunawan is an engineer by training. He began his career with Bosch in Germany. He rose up the ranks within the Bosch Group, first starting out as a Management Trainee. After holding international leading positions including his eight years in China, which he was head of product management, research and development (R&D), key account and operational management, he subsequently was appointed as General Manager for the Industrial Business Unit in China.
From 2014 – 2017, he was Member of the Board of Management and the Managing Director of the private equity portfolio company of Triton in China where he was responsible for the performance of the AVENTICS company, overseeing its profitable growth development in Automation. From October 2017 he became the Chief Executive Officer of Bosch Rexroth in Malaysia and held overall responsibility of driving the industrial business of Bosch in the country, simultaneously he also leading Bosch’s Factory Automation & I4.0 solutions in ASEAN & Oceania. In August 2021, he was promoted to President and CEO of ASEAN and Oceania. Starting in July 2024, Bosch Rexroth Korea and Japan were also added to Michel’s portfolio.
Michel isn’t just a business leader. Since 2023, he has championed sustainability as an ambassador at Bosch Rexroth, channeling his passion for the environment into the organization’s mission to shape industries for a better planet.
Michel has amassed over a decade of international management and leadership experience at the Bosch Group in Germany, Sweden, China and ASEAN. His clients appreciate Michel's pragmatic approach towards solving complex strategic tasks, which he has demonstrated on industrial cases across the region.
