Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS) | Chief Technology Officer, National Semiconductor Translation and Innovation Centre (NSTIC)

Prof. Ang Kah-Wee is a tenured Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS), where he also serves as the Director of Microelectronic Technologies & Devices and Deputy Director of E6 NanoFab, a leading micro-nanofabrication research centre. In addition, he holds the position of Chief Technology Officer at the National Semiconductor Translation and Innovation Centre (NSTIC), playing a pivotal role in driving semiconductor innovation and commercialization. Prior to joining NUS, Prof. Ang was a Manager at SEMATECH in the United States, where he led a team dedicated to developing advanced CMOS manufacturing technology for leading semiconductor foundries.

Prof. Ang’s research is centred on next-generation semiconductor devices, with a focus on transistors, memory technologies, and sensors. His work leverages novel materials, innovative device architectures, and heterogeneous integration to push the boundaries of semiconductor performance and scalability. He has an extensive publication record, having authored over 220 journal and conference papers, including 40 keynote/invited talks, 25 granted/filed US patents, and 4 book chapters.

His outstanding contributions to the field have been recognized with numerous prestigious awards, including the President’s Technology Award, Singapore’s highest national honour for research excellence in science and technology. He is also a recipient of the IEEE Paul Rappaport Award for the best paper in IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, the Best Demo Paper Award at the 2019 Symposia on VLSI Technology and Circuits, the IEEE Electron Devices Society Graduate Fellowship Award, and the inaugural TSMC Outstanding Research Gold Award.
