Ms. Sivanandini SELVAKONE
Business Process Management Engineer, Sandisk, Malaysia
SIVANANDINI SELVAKONE is a dynamic and forward-thinking engineer passionate about driving innovation, operational excellence, and inclusivity in the semiconductor industry.
Over the past four years at SanDisk, she has taken on transformative projects, embraced leadership roles, and spearheaded impactful initiatives that have significantly contributed to business and community development.
Her journey in the semiconductor field began in 2021 as an intern in the Engineering team, where she developed systems to enhance process efficiencies and reduce manual touchpoints. Coming from an aerospace engineering background, Sivanandini quickly adapted to the intricacies of semiconductor manufacturing by leveraging her programming and analytical skills to bridge the gap between different engineering domains. She took on responsibilities of the Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) Machine Programming, gaining hands-on experience in semiconductor processes. As an SMT AOI Inspection Engineer, Sivanandini played a key role in developing computer vision-based inspection programs, ensuring alternate part program readiness, and driving process efficiencies. She led initiatives that significantly reduced machine false call rates while simultaneously developing real-time dashboards and systems to provide engineers with enhanced visibility into machine downtime, error occurrences, and data archives. These improvements have been instrumental in preventing disruptions to manufacturing operations.
In her current role as a Business Process Management Engineer, she leads strategic projects to attain operational excellence. A key initiative under her leadership is the development of inventory management processes to prevent material shortages and over-purchasing to ensure seamless production operations. Her adaptability across fields like aerospace, semiconductors, engineering, and business process management highlights her commitment to continuous learning and problem-solving.
Beyond her technical contributions, Sivanandini is a passionate advocate for fostering an inclusive and high-performing workplace. As an active leader within the SanDisk Women's Impact Network (WIN), she has been instrumental in driving STEM outreach initiatives, including school adoption programs and university talks to inspire young minds to pursue careers in STEM. She has also championed corporate social responsibility efforts, leading donation drives for charitable organizations, volunteering in social impact programs, and organizing community-driven events. One of her most inspiring moments was representing WIN, the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), and The Asia Foundation as the keynote speaker for a STEM outreach program at her alma mater, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), where she empowered young engineers by sharing her career transition journey and the importance of adaptability. Additionally, she actively supports regional STEM initiatives, serving as a judge at the Penang International Science Fair and contributing to educational development in the community.
Despite juggling work, leadership responsibilities, and CSR initiatives, Sivanandini successfully completed her Master's in Aerospace Engineering, majoring in Remote Sensing Technology and Geographical Information Systems. Her expertise in data analytics and project management continues to propel her contributions to the semiconductor industry. Sivanandini believes that true leadership is about inspiring others, driving meaningful change, and continuously striving for excellence. She remains devoted to advocating for inclusion, mentorship, and the transformative power of STEM, ensuring that future generations of engineers are equipped to make an impact.
