Dr. Jayakrishnan CHANDRAPPAN
Head of Technology - Advanced Packaging, CSA Catapult
Dr. Jayakrishnan Chandrappan is the Head of Technology - Advanced Packaging at CSA Catapult. In this role, he is responsible for developing innovative packaging solutions and leads a team focused on semiconductor package design, modelling, micro-assembly, and rapid prototyping for NetZero, Future Telecoms, and sensing.
With over two decades of international experience in the semiconductor industry and industrial research, Jay brings expertise in semiconductor material engineering, microelectronics, optoelectronics, advanced packaging, and reliability testing. Prior to his tenure at CSA Catapult, he held leadership and technology roles at organizations including Global Foundries Inc. (US), Institute of Microelectronics (IME) at A-Star Singapore, and served as a Scientist in the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India. Jay is also a co-founder of two start-ups and has been honoured with Europe’s prestigious Marie-Skłodowska-Curie fellowship. He is a recipient of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Emerging Technology Showcase Award.
Jay actively collaborates with the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM) on the UK Semiconductor Infrastructure Initiative. He is an external advisory board member for the University of Bristol and the University of Leeds in the UK. Additionally, he contributes as a Board of Studies member for Cochin University of Science & Technology (CUSAT) in India. Jay is a valued member of SEMI, Europe APC committee, and the International Microelectronics Assembly & Packaging Society (IMAPS) UK Chapter.
